Satya Nadela’s father passes away at the age of 82


Microsoft chief executive officer (CEO) Satya Nadella’s father passed away on Friday in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

Satya Nadella’s 82-year-old father BN Yugandhar was a 1962 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.

BN Yugandhar served as secretary of former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao.

Satya Nadella’s father was also a Planning Commission member and he worked under former prime minister Manmohan Singh.

BN Yugandhar also acted as director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration at Mussoorie in Uttarakhand.

Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on the demise of Satya Nadella’s father BN Yugandhar said, “Saddened by the demise of former bureaucrat Shri BN Yugandhar. He was an upright, committed officer. He worked for upliftment of the marginalised sections of the society and to improve life in rural India. My heartfelt condolences to his family members. May his soul rest in peace.”

Union Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, tweeted, “Pained by the demise of retired IAS officer Shri BN Yugandhar. A sincere, honest and upright officer, he was instrumental in implementation of several schemes for the welfare of the poor and marginalised. My deepest condolences to his family, specially to his son Mr Satya Nadella.”

IAS Association tweeted, “End of an era – Shri BN Yugandhar is no more. Officers across batches have fond memories of being mentored and guided by him. It’s a big loss for the nation and society. Let’s pay our homage by continuing to be guided by his values and principles. Deepest Condolences to his family.”

CM Ramesh tweeted, “Dear Satya Nadella, sorry to hear about the loss of your father and former IAS, Shri Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandhar Garu. May God give you strength and courage to bear this pain. May your father’s soul rest in peace.”
